Cougar of the Week: Julia Hubbell

Q. How long have you been playing soccer?

A. I’ve been playing since I was 6-years-old. In high school I joined a local team. It has always been a part of my life.

Q. What made you start playing soccer?

A. My parents wanted me to do something active, so I started playing soccer. I was not serious about it at first.

Q. What is the best thing about soccer?

A. I am a competitive person, so soccer is the best way for me to fulfill that. And I really like being a part of the team. I think it’s good to way to get to know people.

Q. The season is over now. How was it for your team?

A. This season we won at the NEWMAC tournament. That was awesome. It was important to make it to post season.

Q. What do you hope for the underclassmen on the team?

A. I hope they can just continue to maintain the great team mentality for the rest of the year. I want everybody to get together again and make sure people are part of the group.

Q. Were there any memorable moments?

A. The best moment was beating Wheaton last year. They are a really good team, but we won the game. And playing soccer in a snow storm this year.

Q. What is your motivation?

A. Always having a support system on/ off field. It’s been a way for me to develop in terms of staying mentality strong, and physically strong.

Q. Do you have any other favorite sports/athletes?

A. I love Ray Allen from the Celtics.
