It’s Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus… Again

The moment that we’ve all been waiting for has finally come. Hocus Pocus 2 will be available to watch on Disney+ next fall!
Bette Midler, Winifred Sanderson, tweeted “Sistaaaahs! It’s been 300 years… But we’re BACK! #HocusPocus2 arrives Fall 2022 on @DisneyPlus.”. For any Halloween fanatic, Hocus Pocus is a classic.
We all know and love everything about Hocus Pocus including the cast, setting and plot. What should we expect from the upcoming movie?
As of right now, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah Sanderson), and Kathy Najimy (Mary Sanderson) are said to come back as their previous roles, the Sanderson sisters, but the filmmaker, Adam Shankman, is passing on the project to Anne Fletcher. However, the original director, Kenny Ortega, admitted that he hasn’t been asked to contribute to the film.
The only characters that fans can expect right now that will be from the original are the Sanderson sisters, but it doesn’t mean that other members of the original cast aren’t down to do it. Another member of the original cast, Doug Jones (Billy Butcherson), said “So I’m just going to keep my knees bent and be ready in case they call”.
The original movie was filmed in Massachusetts and Hollywood, but the next film will be filmed in Rhode Island beginning in October. The crew is creating a 1600s-era set that takes a total of ten weeks to complete and is thought to be used for a short period of time for filming. There is also an expected controlled fire scene that will be taking place during filming. Instead of being filmed in two locations like the original movie, the movie will be wholly shot in Rhode Island.
In addition, the casting company for the movie is looking for extras in the movie, and looking specifically for people with dance experience, and people from 18-22 years old. COVID-19 vaccination is required along with getting tested.

So, what is the plot all about?
The current synopsis says, “Three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.”.
There are two theories as to what the upcoming movie’s plot is based on: a novel that was released in 2018 titled Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel, or if we got something at the end of the first movie that could set us up for the second movie. It could have something to do with a virgin lighting the black flame candle, or something to do with the fact that Winifred’s spellbook is still aware at the end of the movie. Either way, we’ll find out next fall.
Another suspicion is that the three young women who unintentionally raise the Sanderson sisters are witches themselves. People are wondering if they’re going to be three completely new women and not follow the book, but ff it has anything to do with the novel, it is suspected that one of those witches or women could be Allison and Max’s daughter, Poppy Dennison.
Where did this suspicion come from?
Prior to the web of theories that spurred when news of Hocus Pocus 2 came out, many fans of the movie were already putting out their reasons as to why they believe Alison could be part-witch and have witch powers. There’s a line during the film that Sarah calls Allison a “white witch”.
What does that even mean?
Well, a white witch is defined as someone who practices magic for altruistic purposes, basically meaning that a white witch practices magic for the wellbeing of others. So, was Allison protecting Max inadvertently with her “powers” during the movie?
I guess we’ll find out about this in the upcoming film.
