At the beginning of the year, the editorial board said we wanted students to see themselves and their activities in our pages. I hope that we have accomplished that for you this year. This year is coming to an end, but the next volume of The Scarlet is just beginning.
Passing of the Torch
I am proudly leaving The Scarlet to be led by Adrien Larochelle as Editor-in-Chief and Kennedy Griffin as Managing Editor. I have no doubt they will continue The Scarlet’s legacy, bringing you timely news and interesting reviews.
Along with the editors who are continuing, please welcome the Scarlet Staff joining the editorial board: Joshua Weiner as News Editor, Evelyn Zeman as Web Editor and Ethan Hocking as Opinions Editor.
Accomplishments
This semester, our team has accomplished a lot, both individually and as a whole. Our new editors, Ethan and Joshua, each wrote 11 articles this semester. This added to our 100 articles written and published in the spring, bringing the total to over 165 articles over the course of this academic year.
We also met with local journalist Bill Shaner to discuss journalism and community reporting. We learned how Worcester Sucks and I Love It began, and how students could begin their journey writing and pursuing journalism outside of school.
We printed our Spree Day special edition, The Shartlet, which made many people laugh and question why Porter was shrugging. This edition was designed by the seniors of The Scarlet as a special gift before we graduate.
Thank you to the readers, writers, and editors who make The Scarlet what it is. I am excited to see what greatness will continue to be made next year.
Sincerely,
Morgan Parisse
